Fear Is What Gives Us Wings

I always loved this line from the game Max Payne. It has stuck with me ever since I heard it in 2001 when I played the game for the first time. Sure, at the time it was just a line in a video game. Even today, I am still gripped by its words.

In my struggles, my anxiety and fear have given me wings. It all depends on the wings that life decides to give you. Feather wings or lead wings. To fly or to fall. Throughout my life, I've earned both. Unfortunately, most of the time the lead wings tend to win. More often than not, I fall. Occasionally, however, I levitate. Every moment of my life that has led me to this point, I have not embraced for better or for worse.

Writing has allowed me to express myself in a way I have never been able to do before. My writing has given me a form of expression and a way to let go of feelings that have been trapped inside my head for far too long. In my poetry, I want you to know that you are not struggling alone, and you do not have to suffer in silence. Give writing a try, it will give you a place to release those suppressed emotions.

Whatever you do, don't ever give up. Keep writing or do whatever keeps you happy.
