How Poetry Saved Me

First of all, let me just say that poetry has given me a new lease on life. As someone with horrendous anxiety, poetry is my escape. Sure, I loved writing stories of spies and betrayal, deep-seated mysteries, and a twist or two. However, I wanted something more.
For example, writing a thriller gave me even more anxiety. My mind went back and forth between writing and wondering if my writing would be liked by the reader. Would I need to do anything to ensure that my story that I have worked so hard on and put many hours into does not simply end up in the trash? Don't get me wrong, I had negative reviews, but I tell myself there will always be others who won't like your work. It is just the way it is. However, it does not matter how many times you tell yourself that. The doubt will sneak up on you just as quickly as it left.
I also had to overcome imposter syndrome and rejection when writing poetry. In my opinion, there is no such thing as bad poetry. If it is written with passion and sincerity. Poems are unique to the poet and that is something that cannot be replicated. You can do wonders for yourself if you get your thoughts off of your anxious mind and onto paper. This is what I love about my first collection of poetry. After each poem, there will be a blank page for the reader to record their thoughts or even write their poems.
I want to connect with others who may be struggling with mental health and need an outlet for their thoughts. I would love to hear your words. After the release of my book, I’d love to share your poetry responses on my website/social media. Just send me a photo and I will do the rest
I can not wait for December 10th and I cannot wait to hear your feedback for You Might Fell This.
Until Next Time
